Slow Cooker Ham, Cabbage & Lentil Stew

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Lunch is next and protein is important to both. Our dinners are simple, easy, mostly vegetarian and light. How do you do this when everyone in the family eats lunch away from home? The slow cooker and the thermos.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 smoked ham hock

  • 1-2 cups sprouted lentils (lentils soaked overnight in water with a tablespoon of yogurt or lemon juice)

  • ½ cabbage sliced and chopped

  • 1 cup chicken broth

What to do:

  1. In the evening put all the ingredients in the slow cooker.

  2. Cover and set on low.

  3. In the morning everyone gets a good hearty hot lunch in their thermos.

Our three meals today:

Breakfast - Over easy eggs, sprouted sourdough toast with tons of butter, whole raw milk

Lunch – Slow Cooker Ham, Cabbage and Lentil Stew

Dinner – Baked white potato with butter, cultured sour cream and broccoli.
